KYOTO

I've finally put together a small photo diary of my day trip to Kyoto. I'm slowly making my way through my mountain of photos from the trip and realizing that I really loved Japan and need to go back ASAP. During our time in Japan, Ben and I stayed in Tokyo exploring the surrounding areas and made separate day trips to Kyoto and Kamakura (where I was born).

Being in Kyoto for only a day we unfortunately didn't get to cover much - I highly recommend spending 2-3 days there. We caught the Shinkansen from Tokyo which took about 2 hours (traveling at 300km/hr) and arrived in Kyoto around 9 or 10AM. Our first stop was % Arabica, a much heard of and raved about coffee shop located in the heart of Higashiyama, near the Kiyomizu-dera Temple. Our caffeinated selves then made our way up this pathway lined with stores that just keeps going and going where you eventually reach the top of the Kiyomizu-dera Temple which was so beautiful. The place was packed with tourists though as we made the mistake of going on a Saturday rather than a weekday, still amazing and beautiful.

After the Kiyomizu-dera Temple we decided to head over to the iconic Fushimi Inari-Taisha Shrine. Again, another location that was packed with tourists but still just as beautiful. After visiting this location we decided to call it a day and head back to Tokyo. On our way back we were lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the amazing Mt Fuji - that thing is huge!
